GIVEAWAY WINNER!!!!

So there were 108 entries for the giveaway... I used Random.org to randomly select the number of the winner.

And the winner is.....

MELANIE from the PINK WASHINGTONIETTE

Congratulations Melanie!  Email me your contact information and I'll the ship the items!  Make sure to let me know which frame you love the best :)

Thanks to EVERYONE who entered!  I had so much fun reading the rules :)

Here are the "Rules All Preps Should Live By:"

“Bottoms up, Collars up” A must when guzzling G&Ts!

Being preppy is only temporary, so follow your dreams and see where they take you.

Be gracious and do things in good taste.

A smile is the best accessory

When someone asks you how you are doing, take the time to both respond and reciprocate.  It’s just nice to be nice!

Always present yourself in the best way possible, take pride in your appearance, but now I’m adding to be kind and gracious to everyone you come across.  A beautiful heart is more important than a beautiful outfit.

‘Tis better to be an Audrey Hepburn than a Pamela Anderson.

All preps should answer the phone with a smile, because you never know when the person on the other end could be having a terrible day.

One has to done: either your hair and makeup or dressing nicely

Ask someone how they are doing and really mean it!

Manners, manners, and more manners.

Good manners will open doors that money will not…

One should never leave without her pearls.

Always treat others how you would want to be treated!

You’re never fully dressed without a smile!

The magic words: Please and Thank You!!!

Don’t turn your nose at anyone; that is the sign of true class!

True style comes from being true to who you are.

There’s no outfit that can’t be improved with a little navy blue and some pearls!

Wait until DERBY weekend to wear white.  Not Easter!!

Live a colorful life and wear it well!

Treat others the way you want to be treated.  You only want to spread good energy around.

Pearls.  Pearls.  Pearls.

Never wear white until after Derby, not Easter.

Shop for classy, well-made items that will serve as staples for years to come. It's always better to spend a little more on an item that will last a lifetime than an item that is "in". If Paris Hilton would wear it, you might want to put it down.

Always be kind.

When in doubt, pearls go with everything!

You can wear boat shoes with EVERYTHING!

The best accessory a prep can have is a smile, but pearls help too!

Pearls are a necessity!

Summer isn’t summer without sundresses, a signature cocktail, and a tan!

Pearls are always appropriate!

Your outfits should always be classy and clean cut!

As promised... I'm opening up my Etsy store... But not until later tomorrow in the afternoon!  I'm heading off to bed now and I'm babysitting in the morning!

Goodnight!  Congratulations again Melanie!

Giveaway Deadline is TONIGHT!

I am so excited to announce the giveaway winner tomorrow!

I have had just one of those weekends where everything goes really well!  It was a perfect summer weekend :)

On Friday night, I had my girlfriends over for a fire pit.  We never made it outside though because we were too busy talking and catching up!!!  (Not to mention it was a gajillion degrees outside!)  We still made S'Mores... but in the microwave.   We had a little bit too much fun watching the marshmallows grow into giant puffs, haha.

Bebe had everyone over to her house for swimming and boating on Saturday.  This is Lefty and I by the pool.  Notice our fab Vera Bradley towels!  I gave those as graduation gifts last year.  Lefty and I always laugh because we are always "the same, but different."  She's blonde and blue eyed; I'm brunette and green eyed... and there are SOOOO many other cases, it's uncanny.  So we were pretty excited to have brought the Vera towels but in different patterns.

All of the girls in the pool!  How fabulous is Bebe's view?  [She lives on an island that's part of South Tampa.]

After boating and swimming, we had an impromptu dinner party.  It was a wonderful night.  A guy friend came over and helped us grill hamburgers and hotdogs.  We all ate outside and just had such a relaxing time talking and hanging out.

GET THOSE LAST MINUTE ENTRIES IN FOR MY GIVEAWAY!  IT CLOSES AT 11:59PM!

It's Pronounced Tar-SHAY

As in Targét.  And let me tell you.  They have some FABULOUS finds!  Hello!!! J. Crew last summer!  Soccer Mom and I couldn't get enough of the Merona Collection.  Seriously.  Find a Target.  And shop.

I bought this darling dress.  SM & I saw one really similar to this at Saks for about 400 dollars.  I wore it today to get my haircut and pottery painting with my friend.

Sporty Sister and me before our friend's graduation party last night.  Could we be any more different?  PS I'm loving that we're the same height... I'm wearing high espadrilles and she has little flats!  I hate that my younger sister is 2 inches taller, NOT FAIR.

SS, SM, and CP <3
SS & JMan in front of SS's (ahem. my old) car. SM and I "tagged" their cars!

Kitchy Kate & I painted pottery today!  This is before going into the kiln... but I think they're just adorable.  Oh, and this is post-hair cut too!

PS KK is the daughter of Steven Salario.  Yes.  The shoes.  I'm so jealous of her FAB shoe collection!!!

Happy Friday!

Class of 2010!

It's tradition at my high school for the rising senior class to wear matching shirts on the first day as "seniors."  The graduating class doesn't have to go to school anymore, so my sister is now considered a senior.  I cannot believe it! AH!

One of her friends made darling tank tops in bright colors with a cute little phrase about being the class of 2010.  Sporty Sister asked Soccer Mom if she would host the breakfast at our house... Um, last night at about 5pm.  SM and I hustled around town hunting and gathering.  We expected to go to sleep VERY late and wake up VERY early, but we finished before midnight!

Bebe & me two years ago (WHOA) at our senior breakfast!
Our shirts said "SophisticEIGHTed Senior" on the front.  And "We've got CLASS" on the back.

I made a quick trip to Walgreens (thank you for being open 24 hours a day!!!) to get paint for the banner... Somehow our supply from elementary school disappeared...

More cookies!  I'm seriously OBSESSED with royal frosting.  It's becoming a problem.  I'm College Prepster and I'm addicted to royal frosting.  PS I'm making cookies for a family friend's graduation party tomorrow night... WOO!

Egg casserole. Delish.
French toast casserole.  Double Delish.

The spread..

SM & I tagged the girls' cars!  It was so cute!!!  The cars were wet from last night's rain so it was a little tricky!

CHECK IT OUT :)

Sporty Sister's Room

So, I've shown you my room already.  I thought it would be fun to show you Sporty Sister's.  Let me warm you though, I had to do some major cleaning.  SS and I are extremely different in many ways and one of our differences is definitely how we keep our room.  We also have very different styles.

Her bedroom and bathroom is really classy and fun.

Pretty, white, and fluffy bedding! (Cute black & white soccer pictures, too)

SS's vanity- Soccer Mom is repainting the hardware.

SS LOVES bees!  They're hidden all throughout her room!

Monogrammed knobs are perfect for necklaces...

Who wouldn't want a chandelier in her bathroom?

Beautiful paneling!

Enjoy your memorial day :)

More Baked Goods

Birthdays, and especially the parties, are so much fun!  But, I always stress over what to get the birthday girl... I like gifts to be personal and original.  Two of my best friends, Bebe and M, just had their birthdays this week.  Bebe threw a surprise party for M, but I needed presents for both girls.  I went to both of the local malls and numerous shops around town with no luck.

I had recently received my Shift Dress Cookie Cutter from Copper Gifts
The cookie cutter is FABULOUS.  Excellent quality.  The first thing I said to Soccer Mom when I opened it was how sturdy it was and how great it felt.

SM came up with the idea to make the girls cookies and it was just brilliant!  I used royal frosting and piped their monograms and initials on a few and then adorable designs on the rest.  Unfortunately, my memory card in my camera broke sometime last night :(  So these are the only pictures that came out.

I put the cookies into metal pails... How cute are they?

SM helped me wrap them in cellophane and tie them up with a big bow!

M and her cookies! [I had a picture of Bebe, M, and me with their pails, but it didn't come out well.]

Have a great weekend!

I Miss You Packages

Remember two posts back when I showed off the goodies I had been baking?  Well, what I couldn't mention was that the "Soccer Player Cookies" were for two of my rowers from school!

I miss California Funk and Georgetown Boy so so so much!  (And you too, Lili Lover!)  I think it's very wonderful that we all came to school as strangers and left as best friends in just one short year.

Here's the packages I did up for them!  PS I know the tins are two different sizes, it really irritated me when I noticed that.  They were in the same display at the store.  Oh well!

CF gets my beat up copy of The Count of Monte Cristo.  It is seriously one of my favorite books ever.  I studied it in eighth grade and then again in tenth grade.  It is the ultimate adventure book.  CF hasn't read it (which I just can't believe... everyone should read this at some point!) and I know he will just LOVE it!

Mini-Martha

I can't begin to tell y'all how amazing it is to be home!  I just love not having classes or homework or crew practice...

I was looking forward to warm and sunny weather after all the rain DC had this spring, but it seems like I have brought the rain down south!  Florida has literally been in a drought, and then I come home and it's been raining EVERY day!  After Soccer Dad told me that my pale legs looked sickly and unhealthy, I decided to lay out by the pool on Sunday.  In an attempt to get a little color, I opted for SPF 30 instead of the usual 70; I did use 55 on my face though.  Well lovelies, I turned into a lobster.  I am just completely fried.  Yuck.

I posted a few months ago about my lost voice and sore throat.  Well, I haven't exactly gotten over it... My voice is not 100% and I have frequent sore throats.  Soccer Mom took me to a ENT doctor.  He threaded a camera down my nose into my throat.  It was awful.  I just kept thinking about those men who feed a snake through nose for money.  Yuck.

Enough 'Yucks'... here's some YUMS!  I've been cooking up a storm this week!

Sunday:  "Soccer Player Cookies"
A sweet variation on the classic chocolate chip cookie.  Made with oatmeal, grapenuts, and dark chocolate.  Family favorite (and Sporty Sister's friends are obsessed too, hence the name!)

Mmm... Diced strawberries!

Monday: "Strawberry Shortcake Cookies"
Delicious adaptation on the timeless strawberry shortcake.  The cookie is extremely tender and moist.  Can't eat just one! (From Martha Stewart Living)

Tuesday: "Shortcake Biscuits"
Inspired by the cookies, I decided to make traditional shortcake biscuits.  Downright divine!

I'm announcing my giveaway tomorrow!!!  I'm SO excited :)

I'm Back!!!

My closet at home is seriously a third of the size of my entire dorm room!  I'm so happy to have my walk-in back!!!!

Oh goodness, it has been a week!

We got word that the 1F (the first freshman boat) would not be going to the IRA regatta in June on Tuesday.  I had to pack my entire room up that afternoon because my flight was early on Wednesday.  This was literally the hardest thing of my life.  After I finally got everything into four boxes (not easy), I had to figure out how to get the boxes from my room to the UPS store right outside the front gates.  After two or three hysterical phone calls to my mom, I managed to get the boxes into a rented cart by myself.  OK, well I had to pull a 'damsel in distress' with a custodian to help me lift one of the boxes.  While it may seem like loading the cart would be the hard part, but NO.

Georgetown is on a hill and I had to push this EXTREMELY heavy cart up it.  To make matters worse, my phone fell out of my pocket.  I knew it fell of my pocket, but I couldn't stop to pick it up.  So, I had to cross my fingers that it would be there when I got back from delivering the boxes.  Of course, when I went back, it was missing.  I was so relieved to have finally gotten those boxes out of my hands, but I was SO upset about my phone.

Long story, but I ended up getting a Facebook message from someone saying they had my phone.  At 11 pm, I sprinted to his house (just a few blocks off campus) and retrieved my phone.

Anyways, the next morning I flew home!  I was so happy to be back in the sun.  SM surprised me by getting me the A. Tierney bracelet I just blogged about!  I love it :)  It's even cuter in person!  She got Sporty Sister the pink one with bees.  SO ADORABLE!

I spent the entire day cleaning and organizing my room.  My closet turned into the dumping ground for the rest of my family, so I had to do a major overhaul.  I finally got everything back to normal.  Phew.

I'm also getting really excited about my etsy shop!!!  I'm working on a few fabulous, and of course, preppy things!  Expect a giveaway in the near future ;)

Summer?

Weekend Recap:

The bus left the hilltop for Worcester, MA at around 7ish on Friday.  The bus driver was literally horrible.  We didn't take any major highways and were swerving off the road and kept braking really hard and quickly.  We stopped in New Jersey at 11 and checked into a hotel for the night.  I pretty much fell asleep right away.

In the morning, we hit the road again.  We were not taking highways still and ended up getting pulled over.  We sat on the edge of the road for a good half hour.  Not fun.  Since we were driving slowly and wasted time on the side of the road, we fell behind schedule and had to go straight to the course to practice instead of the hotel.  The coxswains were getting weighed in shortly after arriving at the course, so I was guzzling water to try to make up for some weight.  (Unlike Lightweight rowers who have to cut weight to make a maximum, coxswains have a MINIMUM weight requirement.)  I ended up having to be sandbagged a little, but not too much.

I was quite nervous about practicing on the race course since I had never been on it before.  It was pretty nice and easy to navigate except for the warm up area and one pinch at around the 1000 meter mark.  After practice, we went back to the hotel and then to a Freshmen team dinner followed by boat meetings.

My family used to live in Massachusetts, so SM&D flew into Boston on Saturday and stayed with our really close friends.  They drove to Worcester in the morning and so did my BEST FRIEND in the ENTIRE WORLD.  I was SOOO SOOO SOOO happy to see everybody!  I was really nervous in the morning before our heat, so it was hard to socialize though.

We launched and set out to race.  Unfortunately, we got 5th out of 6, so we were in the third level finals for the afternoon.  We raced pretty well, but knew where we had to make improvements for the next race.  My coach had a quick boat meeting with us, and then we headed back to the hotel for lunch and rest.

During our second race, we focused only on our boat and the race plan.  It was a better race than our first, but we got second, which meant 14th.  Our other HW boats didn't do as well as we had hoped, but we have lots of room for improvement for next year!

This is us during our first heat.  You can see me right in the middle of the picture (behind the crew in the red, Rutgers).

CF hanging around the trailer... He left for California this afternoon!  I miss him so much already!

BEST FRIEND!!!

Best Assistant Coach Ever, Coach, and the 1F

Nielsen Kellerman, makers of the Cox Box, tweeted about my blog the other day.  I was so excited... Thanks NK!

*** Since summer is right around the corner, I was thinking of things to keep me busy.  I will definitely be babysitting my next door neighbors a LOT.  I was also thinking of opening up an Etsy shop.  Do you guys have any opinions or advice?  Everything is appreciated! ***

Packing!

I'm packing for two reasons: 1) It's SUMMER & 2) We're leaving for Worcester, MA for Eastern Sprints tonight!

My room is SO barren right now.  I almost feel like I'm camping because I'm down to literally the bare essentials.  I spent almost all of Wednesday packing boxes.  Thankfully, my room was very organized so it wasn't too bad.  But, I had to go through all of my clothes to see what I needed to put into storage and what I needed in Florida.  Obviously all of my sweaters and corduroys will not be making the trip down.

Due to the regatta on Sunday, the entire team is allowed "Late Stay."  Everyone else is supposed to be out of the dorms by tomorrow, so we have a ton of parents floating around campus lugging boxes to overstuffed minivans.  It's a bit more complicated for my boat though.  Depending on how we do on Sunday, we could possibly have to stay on campus until early June.  So, I've had to keep some bedding and towels just in case.  I really like being on a schedule and not knowing whether I'll be home this Tuesday or in June is KILLING me!

I just finished packing for the regatta.  I have a small duffel bag and a Lilly tote (of course).  The duffel is filled with blue and grey!  It's kind of overwhelming!  I have to make sure I have clothes for pretty much all types of weather (rain, sunny, cold, hot, windy, etc.) because you never know with regattas.

My Cox Box is all charged up and ready to go!  My parents bought me my own box for my 18th birthday.  It's so nice knowing I'll always have a working cox box.  (If you have ever coxed a boat without a box, you know how much your vocal cords and rowers hate it.)  The 1V coxswain (Little V's boyfriend) just bought the new version of the cox box.  I am VERY jealous.

In high school, the 1V girl's coxswain had a cox box also.  We both have the blue bags (WAY better than the black boxes) and we were always getting them mixed up.  At one of the holiday parties, I gave her a luggage tag for it.  I bought an orange tag and a pink tag.  I bought matching scrapbook paper for them: orange and pink paisley.  I gave her the orange one and kept the pink one for me.  It has our contact information in the cutest font.

OK, I'm going to go make sure I have everything ready to go!  I won't be back on until Monday afternoon, but I'll keep everyone updated via Twitter!

6:15 am Practice

The team is gearing up for a big regatta this Sunday!  Eastern Sprints is in Massachusetts this year.  It's really close to the town I lived in when I was younger.  My best friend in the entire world is going to try to make it and I'm super excited about that.

But, I'm also really nervous for the races.  I get pretty anxious to begin with.  I've been practicing the race plan, making sure I have the wording of the shifts down and knowing where the 'moves' go.  I also have to become familiar with traffic patterns of the river.  Yikes.  Lots to do!

Whenever it rains in DC, the Potomac River gets congested with logs.  When we arrived at the boathouse this morning at 6:15 (AH!) the river was so so so full of logs.  I'm talking entire trees!  It was insane!  Obviously we couldn't launch any boats, so we ended up having an erg practice.  The assistant coach (who's an extremely experienced coxswain) went over the race course with the other coxswain and me.

After practice, I had to go through the first half of the race plan with guys so they could visualize the race.  It's really awkward for me to call the race on land.  (I've called entire races on a bus ride to a regatta once... Way awkward.)

Anyways, speaking of rowing... I found this bracelet from A. Tierney.  I just love anything related to crew!  How adorable is this!

Sharpies!

Can you spot my monogram?

This one only took about 30 minutes.

Like all Type-A perfectionists, I am slightly addicted to Sharpies.  I don't know how anyone can resist them.

Last week, I was shopping with California Funk and Lili Lover.  They were coming back from practice and I met up with them at Ralph Lauren Rugby.  It is such an amazing store!  CF got the cutest swim trunks and LL bought a few things (including pink shorts!).  Then we walked down to CVS.  It was incredibly hot and I just kept thinking about how miserable I was, and how hot it would feel in Florida.

CF needed to go to the UPS store to buy a box to send home.  I got very sad thinking about how everyone was actually leaving :(  I can't imagine not being around my friends for three months! AH!  We were searching the store for packing tape, when I saw them.  SHARPIE PENS!  I was so so so excited.  The guy working there was laughing and CF and LL were embarrassed to be with me.  I couldn't wait to use them!

I have been spending a lot of time in the library studying.  But I actually have fun (when I'm not freaking out that is).  A lot of my friends and I sit together on the 2nd floor, where we're allowed to talk.  I was really bored studying for Accounting (thank goodness that's over!) and started to doodle on my coffee sleeve with my Sharpie pen.  I would do a few problems and then doodle.  After two nights.  This was the product.  The other one was done with a thicker Sharpie.
