THREE! Books, Movies, and TV Shows, OH MY!

[Here’s a little confession of College Prepster… I really like the number three. If you read my Theory of Three you might know this. Three is just a good number, even if it is odd.]
Books, Movies, and TV Shows, OH MY!

Hello College Prepster Fans, my name is Sweet Caroline and I’m so excited to do a guest blog for College Prepster! Read on to find out my favorite books, movies, and TV shows. Enjoy!

Books:
My mother got me into reading when I was very young so I thank her for all the wonderful reading I have done over the years. I have one favorite series of books and lots of other books that I enjoy. But this series of books is one that I can read over and over and always learn something new. So without further ado my favorite series to read is…
Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

My brother started me on this series, so I blame him for my “healthy” obsession for these books. The reason I love the Harry Potter series is because Rowling writes them in a way that makes the reader feel like they are actually in Hogwarts with the characters. Her writing is so real. And I can easily imagine the scene that I’m reading because of her use of picture words. I’m able to get away and live the life of a witch or wizard. Rowling’s writing is powerful and is loved by many. I know a lot of people love these books and then there are some that do not. Reading about this world entertains me but for many, they don’t want to read about wizards and magic. What are your thoughts on Harry Potter?

I also enjoy reading teen reads that are perfect for a day at the beach. Gossip Girl and It Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar, The Au Pairs by Melissa de la Cruz, Maximum Ride by James Patterson, Meg Cabot books are some of my favorites and I recommend them all!

Books on my Summer Reading List:

– Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan
[College Prepster note: I read this, and it’s a bit different than you’d expect. Not bad, just not exactly fabulous.]

– The Help by Kathryn Stockett
[College Prepster note: I just downloaded this on my Nook!]

– Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah

– Cum Laude by Cecily von Ziegsar

– House Rules by Jodi Picoult
[College Prepster note: I just finished this–loved it. Picoult is my FAVORITE author!!!!!!]

Movies:
Calling all movie buffs! As much as I love reading, I love to sit on my couch and watch a good movie. My top 3 movies are Harry Potter Series, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Bride Wars.

My reason for loving the HP movies is the same as the books, I just can’t get enough!

The first time I saw How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was when I borrowed it from my cousin about 6 years ago and I haven’t returned it since. I could watch this movie every week and not get sick of it. I absolutely love it. It was in this movie that I fell in love with Kate Hudson and now I try and go see every movie she is in. I think she is adorable and plays the character Andie Anderson so well. And the quotes from the movie are just hilarious!

Last but not least, Bride Wars! How fun would it be to plan not only your wedding but your best friend’s as well?? Ok, it would be insane and too stressful, but that’s what makes the movie so great! I love Kate Hudson’s character, Liv, and I can’t stand Anne Hathaway in this movie. Maybe it’s just me, but her character, Emma, always tries to get the sympathy vote and that annoys me. Once again, Kate looks incredible in this movie and anyone who loves wedding will love this movie.

TV:
If you follow my blog then you know that I LOOOOVE Glee and Gossip Girl, but my 3rd favorite TV show is Friends.

I love everything about Glee. The writers address an issue affecting teens every episode, which helps make the show for what it is. Plus, the outfits and songs are incredible. I am one of those fans that go to iTunes right after the episode to buy the songs and I proudly blast the music in the car. Sue, Quinn, Rachel, Kurt, Terri, Emma, Artie, Will, Mercedes, Puck, Tina, and don’t forget those CHEERios: Santana, Brittany are some of the many characters.

Hey Upper East-Siders, Sweet Caroline here…
When I heard that Gossip Girl was being made into a TV show, I could not have been more excited. I love reading the books and what’s great is that the books and movies are a little different but it works. Although, I’m a little upset with the way the 3rd season finale ended, GG fans know what I’m talking about. And now, I’m dying for the 4th season to start! I love the outfits Miss Blair wears and I’m so upset Dan Humphrey told Blair she couldn’t wear headbands in college. I certainly don’t follow that rule!

Who doesn’t love this show??? This year my roommate and I would watch this show and just fall in love with it over and over again. Unfortunately it went off the air in 2004 but will never be forgotten.{pic}

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite books, movie, and TV shows. And I hope you jump over to my blog and check me out, have a great day!

You know…The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened up down here at Universal Studios Orlando.

It's pretty amazing, if you ever have the time and money to fly down, it's totally worth it. The first day I went, I bought a Ravenclaw robe (which I wear around the house because I spent a lot of money on it, and I am NOT going to waste it. I'm wearing it now.) and a replica of Hermione's wand from the films. The wand came in this wonderfully crafted cardboard (I know…bleh, but it's very sturdy cardboard!) with a velvet cushion and tassels inside to protect the wand! It's great. The robe I bought even has a wand pocket inside!

Too bad the wand pockets are only handy for right-handed wizards. =/
