The Freshman 50- Now on NOOK

Lots of GREAT news regarding The Freshman 50.

First, it's now available on BN.com.  It's published as a Barnes & Noble ebook (pubit).  It can be read on a Nook device or a Nook app.  As a Nook owner myself, I was thrilled to get my book on B&N!!!

TF50 (as I've lovingly begun to call it) is also on Facebook!  Like and become a fan for all the updates!

Now for a few FAQ:

1.  Can I read TF50 if I don't have a Kindle?

YES!  You can download a free Kindle application for all kinds of devices (PC, Apple, cell phones, etc.)  And now you can read it on a Nook, or any of the free Nook apps!

2.  When did you have time to write it?

I wrote it the summer after my freshman year.  I did a lot of the writing while I was babysitting and all the kids were asleep.

3.  Why did you write TF50?

It started as a simple list of things that I wished someone had told me before I left for Georgetown.  Once I had about 20 or 30 items, I realized that I should just write a book!

Um, dying.

I found this fabulous DIY tutorial about painting moccasins.

Of course, I tested it during Thanksgiving break... and modified it just a smidge for prepster reasons.

The tutorial by Honestly.... WTF (no, that's the name of the blog haha) is great and super easy to follow.

I added my monogram on both shoes!

In case you're wondering, I got my Minnetonka moccasins from Nordstrom and bought them a half-size smaller than I normally wear.

OBSESSED.

Old Jeans- New Ways

If the weather permitted, I'd wear skirts and dresses year round.  But unfortunately, it just gets way too cold and I end up wearing jeans almost every day.

I really dislike getting in the rut of wearing the same thing over and over again...

Sweater (cable knit, quarter zip, cardigan)

+

Jeans (boot cut, skinny, jeggings)

+

Boots (riding, wellies, duck)

It gets old.  Really quickly.

So, to challenge myself to not get in the rut of this "uniform," I put together some looks on Polyvore.  Hopefully this will provide inspiration for the next few cold months....

Straight Leg Jeans:

1) I love fleece vests.  I paired the more outdoorsy Patagonia vest with sparkly Kate Spade flats to mix things up.

2) For outings (dinner, movies, dates, etc.) it is sometimes just too too cold for skirts (even with tights).  Cropped metallic jacket over a tank top with fun pumps.

3) When you want to be a little more comfortable: I have an absolute obsession with Fair Isle sweaters, and this belted one is no exception.  Picture it with a long sleeved black shirt underneath.  And pair with fuzzy moccasins.

Skinny Jeans:

1) Fur vest + long sleeved tee.  You could easily hide warm socks under the skinny jeans and pull off the heeled oxford shoes.  Love the femininity of the colors.

2) For running errands, don't be afraid to go a little crazy with color.  The bright yellow Kate Spade jacket can be worn over a boring sweater!  But matched with the lime mary-janes and you have yourself quite a bold outfit!

3)  So you need to wear boots (it is realllllly cold!), pair a plain long sleeved shirt with a cropped shrug and a bold necklace.

Now I may be looking forward to jeans-all-the-time weather.  May.

How to Wear.... Cords

I've been getting lots of questions about what to wear with corduroys.  I thought it'd be a perf CP post!

I always get so sick of wearing jeans during the winter time.  Corduroys are the perfect material to stay warm and look in season.

So you've stocked up on J. Crew cords (I mean, come on, who hasn't?), but they're sitting in your closet with the tags still attached.  And you've bought that skirt that looked so cute on the mannequin except now you just don't know what to wear it with!

Here are some options:

When planning an outfit, keep in mind the fit of the bottoms.  If you are wearing a boxier, boot cut pant, try pairing it with a tighter fitting sweater or shirt.  Matchstick cords can be paired with looser, baggier sweaters.  Colors can be a little tricky with cords as well.  Bright cords match well with darker earthier tones and dark cords match with lighter and brighter colors.

Corduroys can be dressed up (with heels and a sequined top) for a holiday party or dressed down (with a flannel and moccasins) for studying in the library.  They're just so versatile.

So, next time you fret over having to wear jeans (again.), pull off the price tag on those cords and rock them.

Heart Lists

I have a slight problem when it comes to lectures for class.... My hands have to be doing something or else I lose complete focus.

Especially when it comes to philosophy.  I mean, that stuff is crazy, and I get the absolute worst headaches when I start thinking about philosophy too much!!!

I have like (no joke) 50 pages of doodles in my binder.  But recently I've begun to doodle these "HEART lists."  Basically, it's a list of things I'm loving that particular day!

 (1) Rugby Tuesday (a weekly tradition)... (2) Kate Spade Bangle... (3) crewcuts Cupcake Skirt.... (4) Netflix... (5) Amazon.com... (6) tumblr... (7) Gumdrops

[I must have been paying a lot of attention during this class, because I didn't finish!]

So true, right?  I just was instant messaging (wait what, people still do that?) with California Funk and I was saying how I thought that I didn't think I could get everything done that I needed to, but I did!  Somehow.... and that how was just doing one thing at a time.  (And not waiting to the last minute.)

Breaking homework up into sections and studying by topic can really make things more manageable.  Phew.  Is it Thanksgiving break yet???  I know it's like against "blogging etiquette" to apologize for xyz, but I really am honestly sorry that my posts haven't been super detailed lately.  I am absolutely drowning in homework (anyone ever used Microsoft Access before???) and studying... so bear with me please!  CP will be back to its normal self super soon!
