June Books

Okay, here we go.  These are the books I read in the month of June.  I liked almost all of them and LOVED some.
Hope in a Jar
Beth Harbison
Loved it.  It was a story really close to my heart so I enjoyed seeing the “twenty five years later” part.  The flashbacks were hilarious, and I loved how every chapter began with a quotation from a beauty ad campaign.
Blue Shoe
Anne Lamott
Um, not a fan.
The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder
Rebecca Wells
Loved loved loved this book.  I really want to read her other ones now.  I went to New Orleans at the beginning of high school for a conference and now I want to go back!
The Truth About Delilah Blue
Tish Cohen
Quick, light read.  Not amazing, but better than okay.

Girls in Trucks
Katie Crouch
Interesting, good for a summer read.

Lucky Stars
Jane Heller
I was initially really annoyed by the quirky humorous writing.  The mom really got on my nerves.  But, kind of like a dumb or cheesy movie, it grew on me.  Funny stuff.

One Day
David Nicholls
LOVED this book.  I absolutely cannot wait for the movie.

Names My Sisters Call Me
Megan Crane
This is the current College Prepster Book Club selection… so obviously I like it 🙂

The Power of One
Bryce Courtenay
READ THIS BOOK.  So amazing.  Be careful when purchasing it though, there’s another abridged version for children…. the one you want to read is 500 pages.

Skinny Bitch
Rory Freedman & Kim Barnouin
I really liked this book.  I’ve definitely made better choices about eating after reading.  Warning: It’s crude.

Summer House
Nancy Thayer
Pretty much the absolute definition of a summer read…. and I loved it!
Have you read any of these books?  What books are you reading?  Have any recommendations for me?
xoxo

SO glad you read Girls In Trucks. I don't know if anyone else recommended it to you, but I know I did. I like Crouch's style. Definitely a light summer read, but a good one!
I'm currently reading Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil, but I just started it! Going to have to pick up the first one on your list though, as a beauty blogger that totally stood out to me!
Love your book posts, always!

I took your advice from one of your previous posts and read The Proper Care and Maintenance of a Friendship. That was one of the best books I ever read! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will defiantly read the ones you post!

Thank you again!

I just finished "After" by Amy Efaw. It was an okay book. A little tedious, but I suppose it needed to be to show how life really is in a juvenile detention center. I recommend it to you!

I just read "Butterfly's Child" by Angela Davis Gardner which was really good 🙂 I will be adding some of these books to my list, thanks for the suggestions!

Ahh, I really want to read "Skinny Bitch" now! I couldn't tell whether or not it was another fad diet book. I'm a sucker for Sarah Dessen (even though her books are technically "young adult," I will never ever stop reading them), and she has a new book out that I can't wait to get. After reading all of Jhumpa Lahiri's short stories, I'm finally starting "The Namesake."

I loved Summer House! I'm really upset that The Truth About Delilah Blue wasn't good..it looked promising. I'll have to check some of these out! Water for Elephants has been my favorite summer read so far.

I've read Girls in Trucks which was okay. I liked it but not love. I also read Skinny Bitch, which I only made it half way through because it grossed me out about every little thing I ate. Which, I guess is the point, but I couldn't take it!

I LOVED One Day too, and the movie looks so cute! I just finished The Paris Wife by Paula McLain, its a good historical read! 🙂

I am new to the blog but after becoming obsessed with it I scrolled the archives and I decided to read this book and absolutely loved it. The language is a bit of a harsh reality check but a must read by far.
