I'm coming up with a new personal slogan.... WIDWNS... or more commonly said... When In Doubt Wear Navy Stripes.
Who wants to join my club?
I mean, seriously, does it get any more summery than a clean, crisp navy stripe? Nope. Navy stripes are so versatile. They work for swim suits, tops, shorts, dress, skirts... and shoes. When a print works that well on everything, you know it's good.
Besides the total nautical feel of a navy stripe, I love that it goes with all sorts of colors. While a basic white tee with striped shorts or white jeans with a striped top works... red, green, yellow, and pink all work too.
J. Crew Nautical Stripe Short | I typically steer away from pleated shorts, but I'm completely in love with the vintage feel of these shorts. It totally reminds me of something Ally from The Notebook would wear! I think it would look extra cute with a tucked in tank top and a red sweater... and nautical wedge espadrilles!
Topshop Stripe Bow Back Vest | Ummmm.... obsessed. I have had my eye on this little top for a while now. I'm not sure how much longer I can resist! I think the looser top would be perfect with white skinny jeans and basic sandals. It's definitely one of those tops that can be worn over a bathing suit at the pool OR out to summer dinner with friends.
Anthropologie Bathing Suit | I have a navy striped bikini that I absolutely love. This one piece is pretty stinkin' cute too. Navy striped bikinis are one of those staple bathing suits. Definitely a timeless look.
Soludos & J. Crew Ballet Flats | If you have a solid colored dress, a little nautical striped flat is perfect. The Soludos espadrilles also look great paired with casual beachy outfits.
J. Crew Pleated Skirt | A little fancier, but still super cute! The skirt would look great with gold accessories. Wouldn't gold wedges and starfish jewelry be so cute???
J. Crew Villa Dress | No thinking required. Throw on and go!!!
Over the next week, I want to see your favorite navy striped outfits!!!! Tweet & Instagram how you wear navy stripes. Be sure to include my handle (@collegeprepster) so I can see it and use #CPnavystripes! I'm so excited to see what you come up with!
