Girl on Fire

I recently read an article that was all about attitude. This week, I’ve been really struggling with my attitude. As in, I’ve had a major ‘tude about… like, everything. I’m not really sure what’s up, but I do know that it’s an issue. I tried super hard to change my attitude. To turn everything around. To have a great outlook… but I just couldn’t do it.
I couldn’t even figure out why I was feeling super moody. It was like I was permanently stuck in a Monday morning funk. (You know that feeling!!!) I painted my nails, opted for a Skinny Vanilla Latte, and even tried to get a few more hours of sleep. Nothing.
And then I stumbled on the best song.
Ever.
Seriously, I blasted this song on repeat all. day. long. Even though I was still feeling a bit moody when I wasn’t actually listening to the song, it was really a game changer. I typically don’t buy music and I bought this song so I could listen to it without commercials. I typically listen to music on very low volume settings, but this song absolutely deserves to be blasted.

I dare you to try to listen to the song without feeling like you can conquer basically anything in the entire world. Go for it.

Of course I discover this song after I made my latest playlist. But honestly, it deserves to stand alone. No song compares. There’s something ridiculously uplifting about this song. Empowering even.
Fun Fact to wrap up this post… I was once on television during an Alicia Keys song! Probably the one time in my life doing something even remotely cool. (You can see me and my dark hair around the 3:34 mark!)
What’s your pump up song?

xoxo

I know exactly what you mean! Don't worry, we will make it through.

My fiance Ashley and I have been listening to You and I by Ingrid Michelson whenever when we feel that our life isn't quite moving at a fast enough pace. And my go to song would probably be Pony (It's okay) by Erin McCarley.

My pump up song changes all the time. But it's usually any fast-paced Michael Jackson or Beyonce song. Occasionally, it's Abracadabra by Jessie J. or even a song by Lianne La Havas.

It's an Alicia song, too… "Superwoman" is my go-to song. Always. Whether I'm running out of the steam during the last mile of a run, feeling my Mommy patience draining away, or about to strangle one (or many) of my students, that song always gives me what I need to finish strong and without committing any homicides. Lol!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets stuck in a funk sometimes! My pump up songs are usually (cheesy!) oldies, like Jackson 5. You simply cannot be sad when listening to "I Want You Back" – it's impossible!

Oh I LOVE Ellie Goulding – Anything Could Happen. Something about the beat and the chorus make me want to dance, no matter what mood I am in.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the song, so my personal favourite is actually anything by Jay-Z, Beyonce, or the like. I don't really understand why, but it works!
