New York FRIEND Week

In case you hadn’t heard, it’s New York Fashion Week currently. To be honest, it’s not my favorite time of year in the city. I love the idea of it, but the crowds and endless cab rides and sore feet kind of get the best of me. This year, I’m taking it a day at a time and deciding what I actually want to go to instead of stressing out. Not worth it.
However, the best part about fashion week (in my opinion), is that I get to see some of my favorite people all the time. In between coffees in between shows. Dinners with out of towners. Brunches with big groups. Even the friends I have in the city, we don’t see each other all the time with busy schedules, so bumping into them randomly is so fun!

While I get overwhelmed by NYFW despite my best efforts to keep things in perspective, spending time with my friends makes it all worth it. It also makes me focus on all the good. Friends are friends really no matter what the setting is.
Last night, I went to a dinner with a bunch of bloggers. It was so nice to catch up with some old friends and make some new friends. Today was busy bopping in and out of presentations (Kate Spade is always a favorite), but it was the friend part that I really loved! Friendships are one of the most important parts of my life and being with them makes me feel so loved. All kinds of stress and worries are washed away when I’m laughing really hard in the back of a cab or sharing personal successes over coffee or bonding over puppies at dinner.

When I was in college, I was really worried that I would never have a set of girlfriends ever again. In high school, I had great girlfriends, but struggled to find a set group in college. Blogging definitely let me connect with an amazing group of young women and I just can’t begin to tell you how these relationships make everything so much better.
So while fashion week might be all about clothes and designers to some people, it’s all about the friendships to me!!

xoxo

Great to read. A post about NYFW that isn't about the fashion, the outfits, the designers,.. love it, very beautiful.
I think I also love it, and perhaps touches me a bit, because I'm struggling to put some kind of definition of who a friend is and who isn't. I mean, it is so hard when there are emotions involved -which is obviously the case in friendship-, I don't really know who to call a friend and who not..
