Three “On-Hand” Gift Ideas

Don’t worry, this isn’t a gift guide yet! I realize it’s only October! (Although, I already have my immediate family’s gifts planned out for the holidays. #earlyplanner)
I’ve been going to so many different things lately where a little hostess gift is necessary. (Or at least appropriate.) For the longest time, I would panic about what to get a host! I would run around town trying to think of something clever or cute at a good price point that I knew the hostess would both enjoy and use. That, my friends, is a lot of checkboxes to keep in mind. I now have a drawer in my house dedicated to such gifts so that I always have something on hand. Bonus: they can double as a last minute birthday gift too.
A favorite candle is the easiest gift. I personally love receiving candles as gifts, especially when the scent is a favorite of my friend’s. Pretty packaging doesn’t hurt either. I really do have at least ten in a drawer in my living room, ready to be gifted at any given moment. Archipelago’s Verbena Basil is almost always my go-to, but I’ve been finding some new favorites that I think would make excellent gift choices as well. (The Nest Fragrances “Grapefruit” is SO good and this one is perfect for the holiday parties.)

The Pinch Provisions Minimergency kit is brilliant. I keep one in my totes all the time and I may or may not have given three people a kit in the past week! They’re just too great for gifts. I can’t think of any girl who can’t use one of these for carrying everyday. They come in a million different colors and styles for all age groups. Sephora and Nordstrom both carry them. The kits stack very nicely in a drawer; I know this from experience. The buffalo check couldn’t be more perfect for December!

This is my mom’s favorite gift. Whenever I used to call her stumped, she would always recommend that I get a set of dishtowels. Anthropologie has super cute ones. (They also work as wrapping “paper” for other gifts. A 2-in-1.) I do like how simple this is– no fuss, but still thoughtful.
For all of these gifts, I tend to skip the wrapping and tie a ribbon with a bow! I keep scraps of ribbon from other packages– my mom always ties must-save ribbon on her boxes to me– in a plastic bag. I paw through to find the right color and length and voilà! a perfect gift.
What’s your go-to gift idea?

xoxo

I love giving (and receiving!) candles as hostess gifts. Some more of my favorites are Rewined (the Rosé is to die for!) out of Charleston, SC, as well as any of the Seda France scents – the fragrance is so strong and the candle lasts forever! I definitely recommend both if you're looking for some new ones! 🙂

I luv luv luv the SSS Candle. The first time I tried it was last summer in my hampton house. Long story short, my boyfriend forgot to take the towels out of the wash, my mom goes to the house "6" days later and the placed smelled terrible. She ran to sylvester & co, purchased several of these and the house smelled heavenly by the time I got there. I now buy them at the West Elm by my apt in Flatiron. You have great taste, but you probably knew that.
