Casual

Beacon Hill

Getting dressed for parties is always a challenge for me as I never really know what the dress code is. I’m the girl who texts everyone who I know is attending to get a feel for what everyone else is wearing. When I planned my trip to Boston, I quickly found out that my best friend Nicole and her sister (and roommate) Janelle were hosting a little house party for fall. Cue the wardrobe stressing. Not to mention I was packing my outfits in a small weekender bag so I could only fit one option.
My method for finding an outfit is to start on one end of my closet and “flip” through my hangers… skipping over definite “nos” and pulling out the “maybes.” I wasn’t really feeling into anything in my closet until I got all the way to the right and landed on my trusty Devon Baer tunic top. I love these tunics. The ruffles are super fancy, but it’s not like it’s a dress so they can be dressed up or down. One of my go-to looks with the tunic is to wear skinny jeans and nude pumps. (Here’s how I styled my other color last year!)
Because their party was a that hard-to-plan-for happy medium between dressy and casual… I went with the ruffled tunic on top and casual and comfortable boots on the bottom.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, I love this crossbody bag. Even though it’s small, it fits quite a lot in there– which is great for traveling days.

Is it weird that I love how broken in your boots are? I think boots are so much pretty once they get some age on them… Kind of like pearls! Also, I love the top! Plaid is one of my favorites for fall, and I feel like this top would be great for so many occasions!

So pretty! Glad to know I'm not the only one who texts everyone they know about what to wear before going to a party – I do it all the time!

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there that stresses about what to wear to parties! Your outfit is exactly what I would've chosen myself. Cute and comfortable!

Hey Carly-
I am pretty busty up top and tunic tops like this make me look like I weigh so much more than I do. Another top that would work for this situation that is a little more fitted..?
Thanks!
