Brooks Brothers Red Fleece

These photos are a bit old as far as the internet is concerned, but I didn’t want fall to go by without getting a chance to share them. I can’t even pretend like these aren’t my most favorite ever.
My sister’s friend (turned my friend) Carter Fish joined Garrett and me on a Connecticut excursion to get some photos for a Brooks Brothers Instagram takeover. Carter is so much fun and I’m really proud of her for landing a dream internship this summer. You should follow her adventures on Instagram… she’s been up to some fun stuff and takes killer photos!
Brooks Brothers sent Garrett and me three different outfits and they ended up being perfect for our weekend. Super fall-y looks for apple picking, colorful and casual for an afternoon at the dog park, and fancy outfits for a date night.
Apple picking has been something I’ve wanted to do since my freshman year at college. Between crew regattas and a lack of car, it never happened in college. And then I never seemed to find time for it while living in NYC for some reason. This year, I made it a high priority. I really just wanted to go for the fun and kind of for the photos (can I live?) but the apples were so out-of-this-world delicious that I could have gone every weekend just to pick up apples from the farm. Tastes so much better than grocery store apples and they have been really fun to bake with, too.
We were a little early in the season for this particular photoshoot (late September), which ended up being such a blessing. The apples that were ready were amazing and the farm, even though it was a Sunday, was next to empty.
Teddy loved playing in Central Park and I was pretty nervous about finding an equally amazing spot to take him once we moved. However, we found him an even better park if you can believe it and go as often as we can. It may even be one of my favorite places on earth. The dog park pictures were a special kind of crazy to capture. Teddy was in full playtime mode and we had some of the cutest photobombers I’ve ever seen. However, I think among the chaos, Carter managed to capture what has to be our Christmas Card photo…. I mean….
And saving the best for last. Guys, I’m obsessed with this dress. It didn’t speak to me on the hanger but the minute I put it on, I was in love. I’ve already reached for it a handful of times for dressier nights out. I think it will look really cute in the winter with tights and booties!
Outfit #1: Duck Sweater, Button Up, Plaid Skirt (all c/o) + Hunter Boots
Outfit #2: Striped Sweater, Orange Skirt (both c/o) + Loafers
Outfit #3: Blue Plaid Dress (c/o) + Black Pumps

You and Garrett have to be the cutest couple on the planet! That last picture is true "couple goals." All of these outfits have me wishing I was apple picking this weekend!

City Street Fair

There is plenty of reasons why summers in the city are my favorite. I love when my neighborhood clears out for weekends in the Hamptons and the UES is the most quiet and private. I love all the greenery lining the streets. I love going to Central Park on warm afternoons as if its a local beach. I love, of course, not having to wear coats. And I love street fairs.
I’ll never forget the first time one seemingly popped up right down the block from my apartment. I was so confused! Is it is a carnival? A block party? Food trucks? Craft fair? Kind of a mix of everything.
Now I have a better sense of when one is going to pop up because there is a specific no parking flyer they start putting up everywhere, but it’s still the best feeling to look down the street and see hundreds of people, no cars, lots of lemonade, and grilled corn on the cob in everyone’s hands.
I just so happened to have picked up this plaid shirtdress earlier in the week. In fact, this was my second time wearing it in three days. It definitely has already proven itself a worthy purchase.
If you find yourself at a street fair soon, you have to get a fresh squeezed lemonade. There are many lemonade stands, but some are pre-made from a mix. Ya gotta watch the person press that lemon right in front of you. I like mine extra tart and sour. Tastes like summer!
Summer hair, don’t care.

I love your shirtdress! It looks like it keeps you cool 🙂 And I love street fairs even more! I was going into town to do homework at a coffee shop because I thought that would be a less depressing place to work than at the library, and I stumbled upon a fair along the way! I ended up spending three hours there, and I don't regret it one bit 🙂 It was also cool seeing families in the area bring their little kids, because little kids have so much energy and are always entertaining to see haha -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

The lemonade is making my mouth water… I'm working in the city this summer, and cannot wait to stop at fairs like these!

I was in the middle of typing my post when you computer published it before I was even finished typing. You got to love technology. Anywho, I love fresh squeezed lemonade in the spring/summer (which living in Alabama is summer and summer). Once you have fresh you can never go back to drinking the concentrated kind.

That dress is a great find! I also love street fairs, they definitely scream summer for me! (Yay for excuses to go out and enjoy the sun and warm weather, right?)

I love this shirtdress, plaid is a southern summer staple 🙂 Also, I'm totally with you on the lemonade. I don't know if you know anything about football, but my fiance' and I are huge Auburn Tiger (Alabama) fans and so we always head down to Auburn during football season. They have a famous drugstore (Toomer's Drug) that makes fresh squeezed lemonade and it is to die for! You should add it to your bucket list!

Early Fall in Central Park

This time of year in the city is magical. And it only really lasts a blink, two if we’re lucky. I like that there are cool mornings, warm afternoons in the sun, and cozy nights. With shorter days, I love being able to spend as much time as possible outdoors during the day and the snuggling up a bit early at night.
Last weekend, Garrett and I met my friend Kathryn and her husband in Central Park to take some photographs. Kathryn and I went to the same high school and grew up just down the block from each other. I found her Instagram when a blogger friend of mine had worked with her; such a small world! I immediately fell in love with her photography. (The photos she took of her sister’s engagement are incredible.)
Garrett is really the best… I know it sounds cliche, but I don’t know what I would do without him. I love our little and big adventures. Even sitting on the couch watching a new documentary or a marathon of The Office is special. He makes me laugh so hard and I’ve even made him laugh twice (ha…). Anyone who voluntarily organizes and hangs every frame in my apartment is a keeper, but it’s really his unconditional support that means the most to me. He gets to witness me at my best and my worst and my weirdest and loves me just the same. I can ask him for his opinion about anything and I know he’ll tell me the truth, which is something I value greatly. Just the best.

Youre both the most adorable. Garret's sweater is the one. I went into BB the other day looking for it and ours didn't have it 🙁 I'm going to have to get it online.

Brooks Brothers Red Fleece

Garrett was shopping online yesterday and I was being a bit nosy looking over his shoulder. I was really impressed by the whole men’s line for Brooks Brothers Red Fleece collection. I pulled up the women’s section and loved what I was seeing. I love Brooks Brothers on men, but the women’s line has never really stood out to me unfortunately…. The Red Fleece collection is much more youthful and relatively affordable compared to the original line. The fall collection is too perfect. (I want everything!)
Perfect timing for our online shopping because Brooks is having their Friends and Family sale… everything is 25% off with “FF25” at checkout. I went with this dress (under $100 even before the sale!). I can’t wait for it to come!!!
In the meantime, scroll through the lookbook below for some of my favorite looks from the collection:
