Your Guide to #Universe Moments

My mom and sister and I all hopped on the universe train a few years ago after reading this book. I mention it from time to time to other people and they either look at me like I have three heads or they nod in complete agreement having experienced the moments themselves too. It drives Garrett crazy when I say it (although he wasn’t laughing when a stranger I had spoken to earlier in the week found his missing wallet four days later…).
Your Guide to #Universe Moments

You know those crazy moments that you think of someone and they call two minutes later? Or in my case last week, when someone tags a stranger in your Instagram picture and you happen to run into him at a secret party hosted on a private beach on a remote part of an island 9000 miles from home.
It didn’t stop there. That morning I ran into someone who I had just shot a message to earlier in the week. Then, that same day. Same beach. I heard someone shout my name and it turns out her friend had let her know I was in Bali, so she looked through some of my pictures and then later on a random beach recognized me about to go out for surf. THEN. A bestie back home in San Francisco ended up befriending two of my friends when they ran into each other only to put it together later that I was a common link.
Earlier that same week, I realized that the loft I’m living in is the same one from my meditations this summer. I met a cutie-pie dude the same night I declared I was going to make more time for dating. And I saw my spirit number “1111” like… 7 or 8 times in the same day.
U N I V E R S E. As I call it. Although I acknowledge it can come off a bit wooey, I don’t believe these things are coincidences. I think they’re magical. I think they’re signs (the meaning of which I provide). I firmly believe they are winks from this crazy matrix of energy we all operate within.
I’ve had shirts printed with #universe. My surfboard is being painted with #universe. I instagram it constantly. I say it repeatedly. But more importantly, I experience #universe moments on the regular.
And it’s so fun. When you can summon these moments into your life a little bit more, it makes for a more magical day. It’s a crazy story to tell. And it’s a little reminder that you’re not alone – connected both to others and to an energy that’s here to support you.
That support is key. None of us want to feel like we’re going at this totally alone. Because we’re not. We have the energy of each other. We have the energy of this universe. And we need to draw on things outside of ourselves when times are confusing, low, or tough. #universe moments are often those little nudges to keep going. To smile. To feel the hug of more. It’s not necessarily a religion thing. It’s not really a belief thing. It’s really simply: a mindset shift. Away from “why am I here. it’s only me. this is hard.” to “Love. Energy. It’s magical. It matters. Holy shit we’re all connected.”
I have people ask me all the time how they manifest more things into their life. How to have these #universe moments (like this other crazy one) that make you stop and smile.
First, read and watch up on the science of our energy. It’s quantum physics. And it’ll blow your mind the way science proves how freaking connected we all are through energy. My favorite introductory resources on this topic are:
– The Divine Matrix – three epic research experiments
Second, pay attention to your life. Gosh, we are always on the go. We multitask so much. And we’re constantly distracted. It’s so easy to miss the tiny connections that nudge us forward. But when you do slow down and get really present, look for what most people would call “coincidences.” Pay attention to repeating numbers. Look for symbols or signs that you keep seeing everywhere. People who show up randomly on facebook that you just had a dream about. That sort of thing. All of those are perfect examples of tiny #universe moments. And know that you’ll also get a healthy does of you can’t make this up ones as well.
Lastly, the meaning you find in any magical happenstance is up to you. It can just be something to make you smile. It can be something that means nothing other than a reminder life is so darn connected. Or you can go all woo like me and apply meaning that you’re staying open, constantly supported and following the right path. Remember, perception is reality. Why not create a mindset of #universe in your life 😉

I'm not a particularly spiritual person, although I enjoy reading novels involving existential crises. I like reading because it's a sort of escape from this logical/predictable world to somewhere more magical, more fascinating. I really like the advice you gave about paying attention to your life. As interesting as the life in my head is, there must be so many things in real life that I'm missing. Those things are the best things because they're real and they're magical. -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

Love this post! Now I have a label for these little coincidences that happen to me. I also met someone recently who "knows" that when she visualizes things they WILL happen. Instead of questioning what I'm doing I'm starting to visualize it happening or that it has already happened…keeps me going!!

So glad you loved this Deb! I have friends like that too – epic manifesters. Although, I'm pretty sure they say the same about me 😉

My sister, mom and I read The Secret over a decade ago and although aspects from that book/movie can be "woo-wooey", the underlying science of what you're explaining here, and the ultimate connection to the Universe is what we've taken away and a decade later still try to remember. And it's hard! It definitely becomes a mindset over time and it's easier to see when you've shifted away from it and try to refocus. This is such a great reminder, thank you!

To anyone interested in learning more about quantum mechanics: please, please, PLEASE take a course at your local university. The internet is a great tool, but there are just some things that are so complex that they need to be learned formally 🙂

I want to do this!! What was your experience? Everything online (and books) really leaves you wanting more. I emailed my old Physics Professor (who also created space rockets for NASA #nbd) for anything and everything he could suggest. ha!

Interesting 🙂 I actually just wrote a blog post about my summer trip to New York (and how lovely it was to meet you!) and had a bit of a #universe moment – turns out we had more in common than we realised, such a tiny world! 🙂

I must say, I love your blog usually, but this post makes me concerned. These moments, while definitely not coincidences, are not a result of the universe. They are a result of God, who created our world and connected us in this way. The energy may be the thing that connects us, but God made that energy, so the real place to look to when one feels alone is to God. You're on the right track, but don't forget to give credit where credit is due! 🙂 Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Hi Elizabeth – I totally understand how compelled you are to give credit where you feel it's due. That's such devotion and it's really beautiful. But no need to be concerned (plus this was a guest post by me not Carly), we're using different names as the credit for similar experiences. Everyone believes something a little different 🙂

I think those moments are insane magical too and definitely are not coincidences. Sometimes they creep me out a bit like we have a pre-planned life, but it is seriously insane how things work out

Carly – I get it a little UM CREEPY too. Just had another one happen over the weekend that's actually *even* crazier. Check out this story… ( https://instagram.com/p/9gn9F2J_N5/ ) Like WHAT. Personally, I don't see it as a sign of pre-determined destiny but more the power of our thoughts and our energy on what becomes reality.
