On My Radar

This was a great week. I squeezed in as much as I possibly could, including a few yoga classes and a tennis lesson. One of the highlights of the week though was getting to meet Alli Webb, the founder of DryBar!!! She just wrote a book detailing how to get perfect blowouts at home and let me say, it’s amazing. The photos are gorgeous, and the step-by-steps are easy to follow. I’ve been trying to perfect doing my hair for years so I am sure I will be picking up a lot of tips from the book.

And, you know, it felt like I haven’t traveled enough the past few weeks, so I’m heading to Boston this weekend for the Head of the Charles. Victoria is racing with the Georgetown alumni boat and I’m excited to catch up with my friends who live there! HOCR is one of my favorite races and it’s way more fun to go as a spectator (in my opinion!!). If you’re going to be there and see me, definitely say hi!

Here’s what was on my radar this week:

ONE // The Plaid Shirt

I know I already blogged about this shirt this week, but I had to share it again in case you missed it. My favorite plaid shirt is available again! It’s the perfect plaid and works for fall through the holidays. It’s also one of those great pieces in your closet that can be dressed up and down and matches with black and navy (a rarity).

TWO // Surprising Teachers

Here’s a huge warning for this one… Do not watch at work. You will ugly cry so hard– at least I did. I was downright bawling throughout this whole video. Teachers are THE BEST, and we should let them know more often!!!

THREE // National Geographic on Facebook

I’d like to nominate National Geographic for best content on Facebook. These videos. It’s the next best thing to going to an IMAX movie! I was mesmerized by these cactus flowers. Hard to believe it’s real life.

FOUR // The Cutest Nantucket Hotel

Need. To. Go. Here. How perfect does Greydon House, a new Nantucket hotel, look? Seriously, every detail was taken care of. Those showers, though. Talk about interior design inspiration. (Wondering if I could just live there permanently?)

FIVE // Mont Saint-Michel

Speaking of travel goals, Mont Saint-Michel has officially been added to my travel bucket list. It’s such an interesting little island!

SIX // The Coolest Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gift

Neiman Marcus puts together fantasy gifts for the holidays every year. They’re always over the top, absolutely absurd, but also freaking cool. This year, they teamed up with Lilly Pulitzer to make the CUTEST Island Cars. The hardest question here: pink or green?!

SEVEN // “Big Little Lies” Trailer

Big Little Lies was one of my favorite books that I read last year. When I heard they were turning it into an HBO series, I could hardly wait. The official trailer was just released, and now I’m even more excited. It looks so good!

Anything great on your radar this week?

I’ve been to St. Mont Michel! So cool and pretty. But definitely tricky to visit considering the tides. We def had to wade a little bit on the way back. A must see!

I will be at the HOCR on Sunday volunteering at the expo info booth! Will you be there just Saturday for the race or Sunday too?

I’m obsessed with Drybar! I will never buy another hairdryer. Also, Alli & her company are uber generous to nonprofits! Win-Win!

Mont St. Michel is amazing. The tide isn’t a big issue most of the day–that being said, waiting on the tide is a magical experience. While you’re there, you could drive to Normandy. I think Garrett would really love that! When I went, we saw the American cemetery, Point du Hoc, and some other places from World War II. It makes you appreciate movies like Saving Private Ryan so much more. Also…the seafood down there is pretttttty delicious!

I was in Boston earlier this week, and you must try Haley Henry Wine Bar – a cozy female owned, female run wine bar with a great nautical vibe.

I had NO idea Big Little Lies was going to be a movie! I absolutely loved that book — I actually think I read it in the first place because you had posted it on your blog! 🙂

I’m going to the HOCR for the first time tomorrow-a friend of mine is coming from WI as a coach. Pretty excited about all of it!

I can attest that Mont St. Michel is absolutely breathtaking, and if possible, you need to spend the time to see how it changes with the rise and fall of the tide. You might also find St. Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, UK equally interesting!
