I’m excited to partner with thredUP on this post today. After advice for starting a blog, my next most asked question is how to build a wardrobe on a budget, without sacrificing style or quality. I have been using thredUP for a couple of years actually. thredUP is the largest online thrift store where you can find your favorite name brand and designer pieces for up to 90% off retail. It’s one of the websites I always go to when I’m looking for a particular item of clothing from a past season.
The prices are really great and, unlike going to a thrift store, you can easily sort through your favorite brands and specific sizes or colors. Saves so much time, as well as money. A win/win as far as I’m concerned.
If you follow me on Snapchat, you might have seen my unboxing of my thredUP purchase for the post. I wasn’t sure which direction I was going to go in, so I bought a few options including two skirts. One is the J. Crew skirt featured today, and another was a Lilly skort in one of the cutest old-school patterns. Definitely can’t wait to wear that this summer as well.
thredUP put together a list of suggestions for refreshing your summer wardrobe. They are great basics to make getting dressed for warm summer days a breeze. I went for a polo, flirty skirt, and low-key flats. I try to keep my summer staples as fuss-free as possible, especially when it comes to packing for summer vacations.
After what seems like endless months of jeans and pants, I take full advantage of bare legs! If I’m not wearing a sundress, I love opting for cute skirts with fun prints and then keeping it simple with a white tee or polo on top. Polos are such an easy way to wear something that looks a little bit more put together without getting uncomfortable in the heat. I know some people hate it, but popping a polo collar is actually a great way to keep the sun off the back of your neck, too.
I appreciated that the items came so well packaged. They all had a cute label in addition to any brand tags (if they still had tags).
Okay, let’s break down the savings:
– Vineyard Vines Polo (new with tags!) | Retails for $62, purchased for $31.99
– J. Crew Skirt | Retails for $98, purchased for $22.99
– Mark & Graham Flat Clutch | Retails for $79, purchased for $36.99
– Jon Josef Flats | Retails for $119, purchased for $35.99
My final purchase total was $127.96, and the retail total would have been $358, so I saved $230!
I was blown away by the quality of all the items. Although they’re second-hand, they didn’t feel that way at all– including the shoes!
