Kicking Off Summer on Nantucket

Two weeks ago (omg how has it already been two weeks?!), I went to Nantucket with Kiel, Sarah, Sophie, and Dave. We were invited by Nantucket Island Resorts to stay in the White Elephant Easy Street Loft. Especially since it was such a short trip, I loved being right in town!

We had a bumpy, extra-long ride on the ferry so getting to Nantucket felt even sweeter. First order of business was grabbing lunch at the Brant Point Grill. I had my first lobster roll of the season, and it was really the best way get in the mood.

It was very cold during our trip, but sunny! I’ll take cool and sunny over rainy and warm! After settling into the loft and claiming rooms/beds, we made our way to Steps Beach. Despite the cold, it was gorgeous. There’s something special about Nantucket beaches.

Also, can we talk about my dirty, post-braid, post-Ferry, very salty, very tangly hair? Why do good hair days happen when you least expect them?

White Elephant Easy Street Loft

We were so tired from all the travel. (I had been on the road since 4 am!) So we opted for dinner at the loft, family-style.

Unfortunately, Sarah was sick on our only full day there. (She’s pregnant in case you missed the announcement!!!!) The rest of us went out on the White Elephant’s Hinckley. I was honestly kind of dreading it because it was 9 am, and I thought it would be super windy and cold. I was actually a little warm in my dark jeans and sweater.

The day was perfect, and the Mariner’s Club guys were great. We just bopped around the island and even convinced them to let us stay for a little longer. I always forget how much I enjoy being on boats.

Is it a trip to Nantucket without a stop at the Brant Point Lighthouse? I always feel like it’s very Wes Anderson.

I have a full outfit post coming up from this with even more photos. But I had to include a sneak peek here. After the boat, we went down to ‘Sconset for the afternoon. I love it because it’s a little bit more relaxed. We spotted a bunch of painters doing a workshop, and the instructor was Little V’s mom’s old teacher! Such a small world.

The countdown is on until my return. (July 1!!!! Hope to see some of you all around for the Fourth!)

Such beautiful outfits! Just wondering why you are wearing dress shoes at the beach & especially on the boat – very preppy verboten ….

Wow, Nantucket looks beautiful – I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. The photos you’ve included are so picturesque, they’ve put me in a dreamy mood. I definitely agree with you on the weather front, it’s always better for it to be cold and sunny than warm and rainy. I’m looking forward to seeing your outfit post 🙂

Have a great week!

Hi Carly! I was curious about what size you’re wearing in the LL Bean sweater – that’s how I want mine to fit! Thanks!

Nantucket is my dream trip, I would LOVE to be able to go for the 4th of July, or my birthday, or really any day!

I love the look of the Northern houses! I am a Florida girl all the way but man those houses in Nantucket with the pretty wood paneling are awesome! That’s probably my favorite style of house! My fav photo of you in this post is the one wearing your yellow jacket. I think you look so elegant and the photo is just really pretty with great lighting!

Colder beach days are always more enjoyable, especially when you’re pale. Gives you a good excuse to keep your shoulders covered!

Your trip looked lovely! I can’t wait until my first visit to Nantucket for Labor Day!!

Would you recommed having a car on the island or would we be okay not bringing the car from Cape Cod?

Thanks!

Looks like a lovely trip! I’ve never been to Nantucket but designed a wedding invitation for a bride who was getting married at the White Elephant. We went to Martha’s Vineyard years ago and it rained the ENTIRE week we were there, so now I’m suspicious of New England vacation spots – haha! But people love it, so it might be time to wear some seersucker and give it a try!
