Liberty Floral in Paris

I was really struggling with figuring out what to pack for my Paris trip. I had been watching the weather, and it was changing dramatically every few days. At one point, it looked like it was going to be 65 degrees and pouring rain the entire time. It turns out it was over 90 degrees and brutally hot the whole time. Despite threats of thunderstorms, we only experienced 20 minutes of the lightest drizzle on Sunday.

My original plan for packing was going to be skinny jeans, cute pants, trench coats, and lots of striped shirts. Thankfully I packed lots of sundresses instead!

Outfit for Touring Paris

This lace up dress in a Liberty floral print was the best purchase this summer and particularly the best purchase for trips. It fits like a dream, and I always appreciate a longer hemline. Plus, pockets.

(It’s almost sold out online, but I’ve seen it in stores still, and it also comes in a different, just as cute, floral print. For size reference, I’d buy your typical J. Crew dress size, which for me is down one size from my normal dress size. I’m wearing a 00 here.)

I’m also glad I threw this hat into my suitcase. It’s a packable hat so it can withstand a little rough handling. It seemed a little ridiculous to bring a straw hat to Paris, but honestly, I was SO thankful for it. Since it was so hot and sunny, I was grateful to keep the sun off my face. And as anyone with extremely dark hair can attest to, my head soaks up all the heat when I’m outside.

Carter and I started the morning off shopping and wandering around. We couldn’t walk by the Ladurée without popping in. I ended up getting a few, which I had for a midnight snack in bed later that night!

We have a Ladurée here in NYC (and there’s a new one in Georgetown!), but the macarons definitely seemed cuter and definitely tasted better in Paris. Without question.

Paris Blogger Daphne Mode and the City

After lunch, we met up with my French friend Daphné. I love Daphné. There are lots of “nice” bloggers out there, but she’s a genuine one, and we always have a great time together. You’d think we had known each other for a lot longer than we have! I wish we lived closer.

She was the ultimate tour guide and showed us around Montmartre. (And giving me some much needed French pronunciation lessons.) We went to a hidden garden cafe for coffee, climbed to Sacré-Cœur, and found some delicious gelato to cool off with.

I got melon flavored sorbet, and it was ridiculously delicious.

Paris Gardens

After parting ways with Daphné, Carter and I ventured down to Jardin du Luxembourg before dinner.

Such a cute dress! I love wearing dresses on trips because they are such an easy, effortless outfit. I am considering getting a pair of this flats, would you recommend them? I want something durable that will last more than one season.

I adore that dress on you! MMM Macaroons. I bet those tasted better in Paris ha! Yesterday I found some frozen macaroons at the grocery store but I opted out because they just didn’t seem like they’d taste that great.

Hey Carly! V personal, but what kind of bra do you do with those sundresses (and that adorable Abercrombie one too)? I dread strapless for a full day of activities- is there one you love?
