7 Recipes to Make for the Fourth of July

I’m at the beach with my friends for the Fourth, and we’re planning on doing a little cooking at the house we’re renting. I think I may need to run to the grocery store again to pick up a few items to make these recipes Louisa sent over– especially the s’mores Rice Krispy treats.

7 Recipes to Make for the Fourth of July

Guest post by Louisa from Living Lou

While I am Canadian (we just had our Canada Day celebration on July 1st), I know many of you will be celebrating your country tomorrow on the 4th of July. Whether it’s a barbecue in the backyard, a trip to the beach or a pool party, I hope everyone has a wonderful celebration! I’ve rounded up seven of my favorite recipes for the 4th of July.

1. Peach Sangria with Blueberries

This sangria is pretty much red, white and blue on its own! You could swap out regular peaches for white peaches—be sure to leave the skin on them, it’s where the red color comes in. A delicious sangria is a perfect drink for celebrating and this recipe makes a huge batch.

2. Gooey Baked Camembert

If you want to add a little something fancy to your spread, this baked camembert will do the trick! Add a little blue to the red and white and toss on a few blueberries right before you bake it, I’ve tried it and it is delicious.

3. Baked Sweet Potatoes on the Barbecue

This is one of my favorite side dishes for the summer, just wrap sweet potatoes in foil and toss them on the grill. I also love to grill sweet potato wedges.

4. Blueberry Vodka Lemonade

The perfect blue drink for your spread, this is a refreshing summer cocktail that is perfect for 4th of July festivities.

5. Creamy Potato Salad

Ok, so I know this recipe is called the ‘Great Canadian Potato Salad’, but I promise you can just switch out ‘Canadian’ for ‘American,’ and it’ll be perfect. With egg, pickles and hot banana peppers, this is the creamy potato salad dreams are made of.

6. S’mores Rice Krispy Treats

You guys, are s’mores not the quintessential summer dessert? I feel like s’mores are such a North American treat, and the best part is, these rice crispy treats are good warm and cold so you can bring them to a potluck or even the beach!

7. Turkey Burgers with Feta

What’s a barbecue without burgers? These burgers are a favorite, I took Greek flavors and made a feta-stuffed turkey burger. This is the perfect way to elevate any barbecue!
