A Great Way to Save on Clothes + A Giveaway

My obsession with thredUP has continued throughout the summer. I’d say it’s a borderline problem right now, but I don’t consider it a bad thing. thredUP is the largest online consignment store where you can find your favorite brands like J.Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, and Kate Spade for up to 90% off retail. Every week or so I pop on to search for my favorite brands to see if I spot something that I love. It’s so much fun because every week there are more items to look through– they add 15,000 new items a day!

I wish I had the patience to do more thrifting in stores, but it’s never been something that I was good at. I’m in awe of girls who can go into a massive store and walk out with something spectacular. (My sister is like that!) I, on the other hand, walk in and quickly walk out feeling overwhelmed. With thredUP, you can sort everything by size, brand, price, and color which makes thrifting exponentially easier.

My whole outfit, head to toe, was purchased from thredUP. And I have to say, I’m kind of obsessed with it.

ThredUp Review

Please note the size of that box; I may have gone a little overboard! I kept finding more things that I loved and couldn’t wittle it down more. All the items are triple-inspected so ensure the highest quality. Everything I purchased felt brand new, including the shoes!

Why I love ThredUp

The savings are unreal. I know I’ve talked about including more products that work for budgets and thredUP 100% falls under that category. Name brand shopping for a fraction of the original price. Here’s the breakdown of the savings on my outfit:

J. Crew Chambray Shirt | Retails for $88, purchased for $24.99

J. Crew Skirt | Retails for $98, purchased for $22.99

Anne Klein Crossbody | Retails for $59, purchased for $28.99

J. Crew Factory Flats | Retails for $69, purchased for $14.99

The total of my purchase was $91.96. The retail total would have been $314, so my total savings was $222.04!!!

What a cute outfit! I’ve always admired thriftiness too, but I’ve never been great at it. I’m a teacher, so I’m always looking for cute/comfortable clothes to wear, but I never want to spend too much. ThredUP sounds like a great idea.

Hi Carly–how do returns work, or what do you do if an item doesn’t fit? That’s my biggest concern!! Thanks!

Very happily surprised to see so many high-end brands on ThredUp. Definitely have my eye on a pair of Prada wedges among many other things.

Love ya, Carly, and I agree that online consignment stores are a godsend! (As an aside, I think you meant “whittle” and not “widdle”, which has very different connotations!)

I think ThredUp is a great way to find some amazing deals, and really change out your closet for a great price. I have never heard of it till now and couldn’t help but search and see some adorable sweaters and booties that I would love to style for fall. What I was most amazed with was this J. Crew Excursion vest that usually is over $100 is just $30! https://www.thredup.com/product/women-j-crew-vest/28253907?sizing_id=795%2C778
Would love to add this to my closet!

Oh how I love thredUP! Such great quality for used items and the prices are just amazing! I’ve been eyeing this adorable J.Crew wool sweater.

I think it would be just perfect for fall and winter. It’s cheerful and colorful, but also will keep me warm at the same time. I was eyeing this sweater in stores a couple seasons ago but never bit the bullet. Now I’m quite tempted to grab it since it’s only $20.99! Can’t beat that price! Thanks Carly and thredUP!

ThredUp is my absolute favorite these days! I used to go thrifting with my mom growing up, and now that I’m an adult and we are both so busy with work it’s hard to carve out the time. My absolute favorite golden yellow peacoat I’ve ever owned came from ThredUp so I’m hooked 🙂

This light blue dress caught my eye instantly:

I have just started my first semester of graduate school in Speech Language Pathology and have been looking EVERYWHERE for affordable, business casual clothes to wear while working with clients in our clinic. ThredUP has SO many amazing options (like this blouse I’ve been eyeing- https://www.thredup.com/product/women-j-crew-factory-store-short-sleeve-blouse/28254317) that would allow me to dress comfortably for sessions but still look professional! Thanks for this post!

I love Thread-Up! I try to have a low-key preppy/quality clothing, but on a college budget, so thrift shopping is my game. I went for a hardcore fav-ing binge today, and found the Chooka Rain Boots, which I love. Super functional, but not giant boots, so they’re perfect to wear to class. in rain or snow. A little used, but still, as long as it keeps my feet dry! Also, Blackwatch Plaid is always good!
