This is an updated post that I’ve done for the past couple of years. What I love about this post, is that even though this is not the first time I’ve done it, I still 100% stand by the staples. They are truly timeless.
This time around I’m going to try to add a bunch of items at various price points. As always, take these as inspiration. (I used a lot of J. Crew pieces for the collage because they have pure flat-lays of the products. It doesn’t mean that you have to buy everything from J. Crew!)
Hi Carly! Loved the post and the items you shared – would you consider doing a future post where you say which is your single favourite brand/item for each of the categories you listed?
Eg. Favourite waxed cotton being the barbour beadnell?
This is a brilliant collection. The wonderful thing about classic dressing is its timless quality. From ages 20’s to 80’s and beyond. Love the updated details.
Thanks so much for this list and including a variety of price points! These are all great pieces and it’s so nice to see affordable options. Could you link to the navy dress in the second row of your picture? I couldn’t find it in the dress section scrolling below but it’s gorgeous.
I actually bought my riding boots (Doc Marten ‘Caite’ style in dark brown) because of one of your fall staple posts! I couldn’t be happier with them. They carried me through the fall and into winter last year (and standing up to Alberta’s snowy winters is no small thing).
…I also might own a navy blue puffer vest and beige trenchcoat because of previous fall staples posts too. Shh.
Love this post- such great, classic staples to add to any fall wardrobe! I was wondering- how to you install those product sliders into your blog post? They are fabulous!
Wow! What a great guide! I definitely own a lot of these pieces but I have my eye on a Burberry trench (I have black but would use tan a lot), and the quilted jacket. I have a fatigue jacket, but I’m loving that waxed one you picked as well. Thanks for sharing!
Long time lurker, first time commenter! As a ~young professional~ I love these types of posts because I’m still building my wardrobe and always on the look out for fashion staples!
Love your picks! And love that so many of the items stand the time aka you know it will be worth the investment, such as the duck boots by LL Bean.
I have a love/hate relationship with Tory Burch riding boots. They are gorgeous and I splurged on a pair a few years ago but they are so tight, stiff (and I am a petite girl), and uncomfortable. It’s a no from me.
Thank you so much for doing this! I can’t even imagine how time consuming it is to find all of these things in so many different price points! It’s such a great guide to have because I’m willing to spend money on investment staples like a good pair of boots or a jacket, but I always look for less expensive shirts and whatnot. This is great! Let’s be real, every post you do is great!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for featuring items in such a wide range of prices and especially for items under $100. I find most bloggers seem to think all their readers are millionaires and can afford all the high end cosmetics (Really? Mascara for $65?) and clothing (Really? everyday jeans for $285?).
This affordable rechargeable LED lamp is cute and then made even cuter with this wicker lampshade! 💡✨ No cords needed- just charge and place wherever you want. (Will be extra perfect for dining outdoors this summer!) 💫 Comment “lamp” and I’ll send you links to the LED lamp ($38 for a pair!) and the lampshade (available in a few styles- including a darling blue).
Not really in the mood to be in photos right now, but I keep telling myself I’ll want to look back on these moments and remember them. (Right?!) when I look at these photos in 10, 20, 30 years…
I hope I remember Jack “rescuing” Rory from a windy tent, not how I stood in front of my closet with tears in my eyes.
I hope I remember watching Jack roll down hills and play hop scotch and scoot down the sidewalk with his besties, not that I caught a glimpse of my reflection and didn’t recognize myself.
I hope I remember sitting outside with my friend happily watching our kids play (while watching the minutes until bedtime tick by), and not that I spent too much time zooming in and examining every new wrinkle on my face.
I hope I remember the pure joy of these early warm days with my little family whom I love so much 🤍
The weather is warming up and I’m feeling slightly more comfortable in my skin every day ☀️ Here’s what I wore last week as a mom of two. I have a two and a half year old toddler and a two month old so I need outfits I feel good in, can chase a little guy around in, AND that I can breastfeed easily while wearing. 🔗 Leave a comment with “OUTFITS” to get links to every outfit I wore!
This room is so very special 🤍 The little cars sprinkled everywhere (watch your step!). A tiny sock, never two, peeled off and tucked somewhere hidden away. Piles of books that grow almost as quickly as the little boy who sleeps here. Outgrown pants and shoes to grow into mingling in the closet. Often messy, and a little cluttered, but a little boy lives here. 🚘☀️🐶📚🧸
(Rory is still in our room, but eventually the boys will share. I can picture their little twin beds already!)
About ten days ago, I noticed that today’s forecast was looking WARM. I told Mike, “We’re walking into town and sitting outside and I’m getting a beer. Put it on your calendar.” It ended up being warmer than forecasted (almost eighty degrees!) and let me tell you, it delivered. Today felt like the beginning of The Season™: dinners al fresco, beers/fries/ice creams, and late bedtimes. Indulging in it all because the kids are only getting older and we’re the grownups (somehow) and we get to make the rules ✌🏻

@pennylinndesigns and I hosted a “learn to needlepoint” class this past weekend and it was everything ✨ Needlepoint has been such a bright spot in my life over the past five years- and it’s gotten me through some difficult times. Because it’s helped me so much, sharing this hobby with others has turned into a mini life mission of mine. To sit in a room (my beautiful office space designed by @clare.sull!) with pro stitchers and needlepoint newbies alike was one of my dreams come true. I loved seeing women chatting, meeting, and bonding over this beautiful craft 🪡 Honestly, the needlepoint world is (sadly) filled with a lot of gatekeeping and competitiveness; this weekend proved that it doesn’t have to- and shouldn’t- be this way! It’s for EVERYONE. Whether you’ve never picked up a canvas in your life or you’re working on heirloom stockings for your family, there’s room for everyone at this table.
📍 Leave a comment saying “needlepoint” and I’ll send you my go-to resources for getting started with needlepoint!
Motherhood is pure JOY to me– nothing makes me happier than being with my boys! I wear my @haverhillcollection personalized jewelry every day as a symbol of my love for them– it’s a constant reminder for me of my greatest purpose. To celebrate my first Mother’s Day with TWO boys, I sent in my Haverhill necklace to add Rory’s birthstone and initial alongside Jack’s! I also got a second bracelet to stack with Jack’s. Love that this personalized jewelry can be altered as our family grows. Haverhill’s jewelry is designed to be lived in (perfect for busy moms!) made from solid 14k gold with high-quality birthstones so I never have to take it off to exercise, shower, or sleep. Use code MOTHERSDAY15 for 15% off!
Great round up of fall staples! This has always been my favorite season to dress for as I feel this seasons style is most timeless and classic.

Carly- do you have a link to the adorable purse in the picture? It’s not in the scrolling list under “crossbody”! Thanks!

This is a great list, Carly! I am happy to own many of the pieces mentioned. I just hope it cools down soon in Dallas so I can start wearing them!

Carly, I really appreciate the work you put into finding affordable pieces for those of us who are on a smaller budget! Thanks for this!
Thanks for putting the prices on all of the pieces! Super helpful.

It’s linked where it says “Wool Dress” https://cprep.co/2yt2ptv
Thank you!!
Love all the pieces but some are on the pricey side. I would love to see a post about best ways to find classic pieces on a discount.
I included a bunch of different price points for each section!
Love, love, love the different price points! More posts like these please!!

I always love seeing fall fashions, and I love that there are so many timeless fashions each Fall. Thank you for the inspiration!
