This week didn’t exactly go as planned. I had a big shoot planned for Tuesday, but it poured all day long. Complete torrential downpour. At one point, I checked the radar again just to make sure it wasn’t going to miraculously clear up and almost immediately it started to thunder. I thought, “Okay, okay… I get it!”…

Interview with Marla Malcolm Beck, Co-Founder of Bluemercury
Last week, I had the chance to hop on a call with Marla Malcolm Beck, co-founder of Bluemercury. Bluemercury is one of my favorite places to buy makeup. The thing that’s really different about Bluemercury? All of the employees are incredibly knowledgable about the products. When I went to Georgetown, I’d pop in every now and then…
Inbox Zero
I take email very seriously. It’s definitely the most influential form of communication right now and I think it’s something that should be managed in a professional way. But it’s overwhelming. Unlike phones (calls, text messages, etc.), everyone can get in contact with you. Getting an email address is super easy if you know particular cadences…
On My Radar
I think I’ve finally rounded the corner of this sinus infection. So gross, but glad I’m through the worst of it. I canceled as many plans as I could so I could stay inside and recover. I’ll have to do a little bit of makeup work this weekend, but I think I’ll still enjoy the…
On My Radar
It was an emotionally draining week for me… but the victory here is that we have made it to Friday! Right now just making it to Friday is accomplishment enough. I have a long to-do list for next week and I’m slowly making my way through my inbox (if you emailed within the past two…
Beauty Gift Guide
Okay, this has been a post that I have wanted to do since Christmas decorations first hit Target. Gift guides can be sort of fun but also can take a really long time to put together. This one is extra special though because it’s all sort of beauty products that I LOVE. I tried to include as many of my favorites as possible, but I’m sure I forgot some.
In my opinion, beauty products make some of the best gifts out there. I find myself giving from the “beauty” category for my girlfriends and sister. Especially since beauty products can get expensive, I think it’s fun to splurge on a friend you know would never spend the money on herself! I’ve already promised some gifts to my mom (this hand cream) and my sister (the mushroom line). They are generally pretty small too so they’re easy to stuff stockings with 😉
MY HONEST REVIEW OF CADENCE CAPSULES
The long-awaited review of the Cadence travel capsules!!! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, here’s the quick backstory. I have been getting targeted hard for Cadence travel containers all over social media. I can’t scroll through any social media apps without seeing at least one sponsored advertisement for these trendy, sleek travel containers. Did I…
Adulting Gifts
I know this seems like such a boring gift guide… but I know a lot of you are in the same boat that I am. My sister, who turns 27 (how?!?!) next month, and I were just talking about how we’re officially old because our idea of perfect gifts are useful things like vacuum cleaners….
Organize, Please… GMAIL
I am a gmail addict and have a huge system worked out. I have a few email accounts. An AOL one (I know, so 1990s) that I use for pretty much everything, my Georgetown address, and a few gmail accounts. (Speaking of email addresses, you can reach me at carly [at] thecollegeprepster [dot] com) Before I…
